Summer Campout

Dads and families — join us for a fun-filled weekend of tent camping or a day-only visit at Roundup Lake, a family-friendly camping resort. Activities include lake swimming, a water obstacle course, fishing, crafts, and more.

The Cuyahoga Valley Native Sons and Daughters (CVNSD) has reserved space at Roundup Lake for this year’s family campout. We are inviting other neighboring longhouses to join us for the fun.

Prefer not to camp? Join us Saturday for the day’s events, or an option for a canoeing trip nearby on the Cuyahoga River.

Dates: July 18–20, 2025
Check-In: Friday, July 18 @ 2:00 PM
Check-Out: Sunday, July 20 @ 11:00 AM

Location: RoundUp Lake Campground, 3392 State Route 82, Mantua, OH 44255

Cost:

• $34 per campsite per night (up to 2 tents, 6 people, 2 vehicles); or optional $10 per day-pass visitor (ages 4+; under 3 are free). Day passes can be purchased at the campsite.
• If preferred, you can choose to stay just one night too

Tent Camping Details

Campsite area: Primitive Tent Area A (Sites 30–49, no water/electric)

Tent site selection: First-come, first-served upon arrival/check-in within our reserved area.

Finding our group: We’ll be in the Primitive Tent Area A, and CVNSD feather flags will mark our area. Campground staff will direct you after check-in at the main office.

What to Bring for Camping

• Tent, sleeping bags, cot/air mattress
• All food and beverages (cooler recommended)
• Cooking supplies (stove or grill if desired)
• Bug spray, sunscreen
• Swimwear, towels, flashlights
• Phone charger (charging available at buildings)
• Fishing gear (catch-and-release only)
• Firewood (or purchase at campground)

Camp Hi Canoeing Trip (Family Event)

Trip Options & Cost:

• 2-mile (1 hour): $24 per person
• 5-mile (2–3 hours): $28 per person

Registration Steps:

• Register through CVNSD to reserve your spot; we will be able to cancel our trip 48 hours ahead of time if weather does not look good
• Registration Deadline: July 10, 2025

What’s Provided:

• Canoes/kayaks, paddles, life vests
• Transportation back to Camp Hi after the trip

Schedule:

• 1:00 PM – Leave Roundup Lake to drive to Camp Hi
• 1:15 – 1:30 PM – Check-in at the Camp Hi
• 1:30 PM – Camp Hi transports us and launch begins (may take up to 1 hour)
• ~3:00 PM – 2-mile trip ends at Rt. 82
• ~4:00 PM – 5-mile trip ends at Mantua

Canoeing: What to Bring

• Dry bag or zip-seal bags for phones/valuables
• Swimwear or water-friendly clothes
• Sunglasses (with strap), hat
• Sunscreen, bug spray
• Towel, water bottle, light snacks
• Footwear that can get wet (e.g., sandals, water shoes)
• Optional: Pirate eye patch for laughs

Q: Do I have to camp to participate in activities?
A: No! You’re welcome to come just for Saturday.

Q: Can I pick my campsite ahead of time?
A: No, campsites are selected upon arrival in our designated area.

Q: Can I bring an RV or camper?
A: This group event is tent-only. Other accommodations would need to be reserved separately directly with Roundup Lake.

Q: Will there be group meals?
A: No, families are responsible for their own meals and snacks.

Q: Can I bring my own canoe?
A: Yes, but it must meet safety standards and include an adult. Let us know ahead of time.
